Biography of Michael Id-Deen:

Michael Id-Deen lived a full and impacting life as a sincere servant of Allah (swt).
Born August 7, 1953 in Gary, IN, he was raised in New York and Charleston, SC.
He made Atlanta his home where he came to attend Georgia Institute of Technology.
He also studied at Georgia State University.

Michael id-Deen reverted to Al-Islam in 1975.  As a young man in his early twnties, he started out as a junior F.O.I., secretary/treasurer, then assistant treasurer, and later as the treasurer of the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam.  He sacrificed to work for his community because he felt compassion and drive to be a part of the community's success and prosperity as a model Muslim.  As an instructor of Arabic at Mohammed Schools, he was driven to enhance the Arabic studies program through working with his team of instructors to develop a seamless curriculum for pre-K through 12th grades.  He was voted by his peers and named Teacher of the Year for the 2005-2006 school year.  He also taught Arabic to adult members in the Atlanta Masjid community.  He was instrumental in developing and instituting an athletic program at the Mohammed Schools and could be seen coaching, cheering, and supporting the teams on and off the field and court.
